Red Rover, Red Rover.

My drop spindle kit came today. I must be losing my mind, because I have come to the ridiculous conclusion I can teach myself to spin....with this.
But how could I resist?????

Just look how beautiful it is. The luscious roving was enough to send me swooning. I have to at least try. Right?
Ummmm....Here's what I'm thinking. Go to YouTube and find a video of someone who knows what they are doing. Cause here's the thing.... I haven't a clue.

I hope there will be much improvement this weekend. Are there motivational video's for Spinners????
*** YOU CAN DO IT *** positive thinking is half the battle and the other is patience and a tall stiff drink! May the mighty Spinning Gods have mercy on my soul.
Great Weekend all!

thats funny, i almost bought myself one of these a couple of months ago but i decided that if i'm going to spin that i'm going all in and getting the big spinning wheel. So funds stopped me from starting that adventure. I didnt know they would be so expensive. let us know how it goes.

Are you kidding? If that's your first handspun you have every right to be proud!!

Also, check out the craftster spinning forum if you haven't already. Lots of inspiration and helpful people.

Now I'm getting jealous... if that is your first go on an evil drop spindle you have nothing to worry about !!!
I hope your weekend is full of twists and that tall drink doesn't get knocked over whilst full ;-)

Wow! Lovely first try. I have thought about trying this very extension of the knitting craft, but, like mandie437, I would like to have the whole set-up. Low funds are in my fiber jar currently. I look forward to seeing what you do as you learn and progress.

Most of my kniting buddies are spinners and they keep saying they are going to rub off on me. So far I've resisted. Besides if I decided to spin, I'd have to do silk or such, wool allergies and all. Good luck!

UM, listen up lady. If that is your first go at it, you are doing fine! If you need some motivation, let me just privately send you some of the results of my first attempts...
No, I don't want to scare you.
Keep it up! Love the fluff!

oooh! Thanks for the idea to check out youtube for a video - I just bought myself a drop spindle kit and am a little worried about learning just from the written instructions!
